*sigh*
I'm tired of all this. Nothing's ever alright for long. Infact, nothing's ever alright. And it's stupid. It's stupid how people kick those around them when they're down. I'm not referring to anyone in this entry. It's just a general rant. So please, nobody take offence. None is intended.
But anyway, this planet is so unbelievably screwed. Not even the best estate agent could make Earth sound appealing enough to live on.
I mean, take a look around you. Racism, sexism, homophobia, general discrimination. I don't understand any of it. Not at all. Take racism for example, out of all the genes in the human body, only a couple of them effect skin colour. And the only reason people across the world have different coloured skin is because natural selection made them that way. We were meant to be able to adapt and survive in different climates. Not discriminate someone because their skin colour is better suited to a warmer climate. I understand that most of the conflict between black and white people [[to hell with political correctness, I'm trying to make a point]] stems from generations of hatred caused by the slave industry and it's not likely to just disappear any time soon. I accept that. But as for the rest of it, I cannot tolerate shear ignorance. Just because someone looks different to you, it doesn't mean they're inferior or different; they're still human beings. For crying out loud, if people are going to behave like that, they might aswell discriminate someone for having a different hair colour because that holds the same relevance as skin colour. And thinking that, say, one Asian person is a complete fucker doesn't mean to say that the entire Asian population of the planet are also complete fuckers. I can guarrantee that there will be people of that minority who are not worth knowing, but I can also guarantee that some will be the nicest people you'll ever meet.
And I can understand sexism up to a point, but beyond that I find it completely ridiculous. For centuries, the women's place was in the home. 2000 years ago, a woman was the belonging of either her husband or her nearest male relative. Even her reputation was based on those of her brothers, father and husband. Her female relatives just didn't come into the equation. But that was then. They lived with completely different moral standards and for them it was just a way of life. I can also understand how the older generations still partially live by these kind of standards. I don't mean to say that they find gladiatorial games an accepted part of society, just that they do still seem to believe that a woman's place is in the home. And by "older generations" I meant my grandparents - although I have no doubt that there are those who are younger yet still consider that to be correct. Women have been seen as the weaker sex since forever, but that quite obviously changed in the last century. What I don't like is that some men still seem to be living in the 19th century and haven't yet noticed that their wives, daughters etc do not belong to them. And yes, I know that there are also women who still consider themselves to be inferior or the property of their husbands.
And homophobia drives me up the wall. It shouldn't matter whether your significant other is of the opposite sex to you or not. That and the fact that it's nobody else's business. If you want to go out with another girl, go ahead. It's your choice, nobody else's. I hate the fact that so many people on this planet are practically afraid of people who don't think or look the way they do. Sure, in a perfect world there would be no racism, sexism etc. But the only way you're ever going to accomplish that is by wiping out all differences. You'd end up with a genderless race who all looked identical. Let's face it, humans will always be able to find something to be prejudiced about. Whether it be your sexuality, skin colour or even the sound of your voice.
This is the 21st century. There will always be differences among the human race. For all those people out there who are racist, sexist etc I have one last thing to say:
GET OVER IT
